Native App Design for a Software Bootcamp
GetMeHired.co was a software bootcamp platform empowering students through professional mentoring and coursework on various software engineering fields, culminating in job placements for graduates who successfully completed their programs. The venture was closed down in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, and restructured into SkillFusion Academy.
The project was commissioned for designing a brand new app (iOS | Android) through which students could navigate and enroll in GetMeHired's bootcamp courses, as well as explore and apply for job opportunities. The app would also enable course instructors and administrators to update course content, monitor student activities and enrolment, and offer guidance on career navigation.
My Role
User Interface Designer
Team size: 8
PO (2), PM (1), Designer (1), Engineers (4)
As the sole UI Designer on the team, I collaborated with GetMeHired's founder(s) and PM on two different products: 1) overhauling a SaaS portal for tracking the registration, course progression, mentorship and data analytics, and 2) building a brand new native app for mobile devices.
I was charged with unearthing and tracking the phase-by-phase business/ product requirements through version control, ideating app visuals, and rapid prototyping to build high-fidelity mockups in Figma.
I worked closely with an international team of engineers across Canada, Bangladesh and India to develop the mockups. The design/ development process followed a Scrum structure, tracked via ClickUp.

Design System

User Flows
1 Selecting a Course
Students are able to view their specializations and course details and status via progress bars but are not authorized to access or modify their scores. On the other hand, course moderators/ administrators have the option to evaluate the user’s/ student’s aptitude as well as update progress/ success of the assigned tasks.

2 Exploring Prospective Employers and Opportunities
Administrators/ Product owners are able to generate leads for course enrollment, and on the same page view a list of users (students or course moderators) who are already enrolled. Admins are also authorized to update details of each user. On the other hand, students can access their own profiles directly using the "Account" widget on the menu. On the Profile Details page, students are able to view/ update certain details such as "Profile", "Accessibility Settings", etc.

3 User Profile Details / Edit
Students are able to view and save their organizations of choice and are also able to receive employer recommendations based on their specializations. They are also able to explore job postings under each prospective employer. Moderators/ administrators have the option to update employer details as well as create/ modify job postings, feeding directly to LinkedIn.

4 Create a New Work Opportunity
Administrators/ Product owners are authorized to create/ update job opportunities under prospective employers based on students' skills/ specializations.

5 Update Accessibility Settings
All user levels are authorized to update visual settings addressing their accessibility needs - including Dark Mode, Typeface/ Contrast changes, and Voice Assistance.

6 Dark Mode
One of the key Accessibility settings on the app is the option to switch between Light and Dark modes.
